The newly designed tour of the Swiss salt works in Schweizerhalle conveys the many fascinating facets of salt. The topics of salt in everyday life, salt history and the importance of salt in winter maintenance were completely redesigned by Steiner Sarnen Switzerland in collaboration with Bellprat Partner. The Swiss salt works produce up to 650,000 tons of salt annually at the three sites in Schweizerhalle, Riburg and Bex. The huge mountains of salt in Schweizerhalle give visitors an approximate idea of this quantity. The amazement is followed by a nice tingling sensation in the stomach when young and old alike whizz down the salt mountain slide with joy, fear and jubilation. On the tour, it becomes clear: whether it's table salt for the kitchen or regenerating salt for the dishwasher, the salt produced by the salt works accompanies us throughout our lives. Often inconspicuous and invisible. But always indispensable. On cold winter days, the salt pans even become Switzerland's life insurance. When the country threatens to sink into the masses of snow, the Swiss salt pans and their de-icing salt come into their own. It is hard to imagine what would happen if the nationwide supply of food and goods as well as passenger transportation came to a standstill for a few days. We at Steiner Sarnen Switzerland agree: Swiss salt works are a good thing.
