"""Heaven in front of your eyes"" is the name of the permanent exhibition at the Muri monastery. A multimedia play traces the historical tension between times of prosperity and times of crisis - from the founding by the Habsburgs to the Reformation, the expulsion from the monastery and the last Habsburg emperor and empress. A museum novelty is the mechanical pop-up book, which recounts in the prologue the history of the foundation with its beginnings in 1027. In the adjacent ""Abbots' Cellar"", the further history of the monastery is conveyed by means of seven abbots and valuable original exhibits from the monastery treasury - up to the dissolution of the monastery in 1841. Via the historic cloister with its colorful glass paintings as evidence of the extensive network of ecclesiastical and political dignitaries, visitors reach the exhibition room ""Life in the Monastery"". This room is dedicated to everyday Benedictine life, with information on the organization, daily routine, economic livelihood and religious life of the monks. Finally, the museum tour leads into the impressive baroque monastery church - one of the most important baroque buildings in Switzerland."
