Just like your mother, cut from your father's face, or taking over a family business in the twelfth generation - inheritance rarely happens by choice and sooner or later affects us all. The exhibition HELP, I INHERIT! shows how what we inherit shapes our lives: as a gift, a burden or both at the same time. At the entrance, visitors are given a waistcoat that they can personalise with words that match their personal heritage. With over 250 quotes, facts and anecdotes, the tour invites visitors to explore their own connection to their heritage. Portraits of people who talk about what they have inherited - for example an artistic legacy, a trauma, debts or an illness - open your eyes to the diversity of this topic. What do I inherit from whom? How does my inheritance shape me? And above all: what do I do with it? With questions like these, the exhibition offers inspiration to examine one's own roots. It creates space for reflection and opens up new perspectives on a topic that is often underestimated or even pushed aside. Children between the ages of five and ten can discover the exhibition independently using their own audio track. HILFE, ICH ERBE! makes it clear that inheritance is more than just a financial or genetic legacy. It is a journey into the past that can clarify questions of the present and inspire us to actively shape the future.
